AI Search gives agents an explicit documentation interface
Search that tools can call
On 6 August 2026, Cloudflare introduced improvements to AI Search, still in beta. A search namespace can expose search and MCP endpoints when its public URLs are enabled.
Connecting answers to documentation
MCP is a protocol through which an agent calls tools. In a technical team, an explicit documentation service could provide current procedures instead of relying solely on training knowledge. The expected benefit concerns discovering documents and bringing them into the working context.
Two questions should remain separate: does the search engine retrieve the right passage, and does the model interpret it correctly? A set of known requests could evaluate both stages independently, keeping document dates and origins visible.
A public endpoint defines a data boundary
Enabling public access requires checking exactly what becomes searchable. For a private collection, authentication and permissions belong in the trial scenario. The prices shown in August were previews, so they do not provide a lasting production quotation. A useful pilot would therefore include permission failures and document updates as well as successful answers.
