Firefox 152: examining controls in browser games
More direct input
Released on 16 June 2026, Firefox 152 supports unadjustedMovement in Pointer Lock. This option provides mouse movement without acceleration applied by the operating system.
What it means for a game
For a first-person game prototype, we would examine control consistency: does the same physical gesture produce the expected camera movement? Observe sensitivity, rapid motions and fine adjustments. The behavior should remain understandable across different mouse settings.
An evaluation can compare short sessions with and without the option. Player feedback should focus on specific actions, such as following a target or turning in place, rather than a general impression of smoothness.
Keep an accessible exit
Immersive controls remain a browser interaction. We recommend checking entry into game mode, exiting through the keyboard and returning to the menu. Also test focus loss and unavailable support, so improved camera control does not make navigation less reliable.
