Python 3.15 beta: test compatibility while it can still change
A dated testing milestone
Our retrospective May review highlights Python 3.15.0b1, released on May 7, 2026. This first beta marks the planned feature freeze for the series, while remaining a preview not recommended for production. Python publication.
Try the whole chain
For a Python project, successfully starting the interpreter is not enough. The interesting questions are whether dependencies install, native extensions load and actual workflows produce expected results. A separate environment makes these observations possible without immediately changing the whole team’s tools. The most useful report records the exact version, affected package and a short reproduction.
Prepare upstream feedback
This period is particularly valuable for maintainers: an issue found early can be explained in context and discussed before the final release. Results must still remain tied to this beta. Compatibility observed now needs checking again on the version ultimately selected. For an existing application, the priority is finding obstacles and making the future migration predictable.
